AI4LUNGS begins automating clinical data transfers for AI model development

AI4LUNGS has begun integrating the clinical informatics systems of its partners with the Yonalink platform. This step will help automate the transfer and harmonization of clinical data, enabling its use in the development of new AI models set to begin in early 2025.

Last week, Yonalink (represented by Sapir Balas and Ronen Weinstein) and KPMG (represented by Liron Ben Yosef ) joined INESC TEC and Gaia for a two-day meeting in Portugal to initiate the integration between Gaia's electronic health records (EHR) and Yonalink’s system.

During the meeting, protocols and systems for integration were analysed, and Gaia successfully designed its internal system architecture for seamless integration with Yonalink's API. A detailed task list and timeline were established to ensure the project stays on track, aiming to have the first prototype ready by the end of the year.

Moving forward, Gaia and Yonalink will collaborate closely to achieve the defined goals, while Yonalink will initiate similar kick-off meetings with the remaining four clinical partners. AI4LUNGS will focus on handling all integration developments, while the clinical partners manage ethical procedures, helping streamline the project's progress as planned.
