On 15 September 2025, the AI4LUNGS consortium successfully held its first project review meeting, an important milestone in our journey to transform lung care with AI-driven diagnostics.

Partners came together to showcase the progress achieved during the first half of implementation. The review was attended by four independent experts, bringing perspectives from healthcare, machine learning, data management, and respiratory medicine.

Key Achievements Presented

During the full-day meeting, the consortium highlighted progress across several core areas:

✅ Data management tasks and processes

✅ Clinical data and ongoing studies

✅ Legal and ethical aspects of data use

✅ Data analysis and AI4LUNGS system integration

✅ Dissemination, communication, and project management

The reviewers provided constructive and encouraging feedback, validating the project’s efforts while also offering guidance to ensure the next phases of AI4LUNGS continue on track.

Looking Ahead

This review marks not just an assessment of past work, but also a launchpad for the next phase. The consortium is now preparing for the official review report, which will further guide the project’s path forward.

As project coordinator Duarte Diaz put it: "Let’s continue the marathon!”

👏 A big round of applause goes to all partners for their contributions, and a special thanks to Helder Oliveira and Duarte Diaz from INESC TEC for their excellent coordination.

The AI4LUNGS consortium remains committed to advancing innovative, AI-powered solutions that support healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating complex lung conditions.
