AI is transforming healthcare, diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases are no different. The AI4LUNGS Workshop: AI-Based Personalised Care for Respiratory Disease Using Diverse Data Modalities for Patient Stratification, organised by INESC TEC, will bring together researchers and practitioners to explore the latest advances in AI-driven lung cancer research during IEEE BIBM 2026 in Dallas, Texas, USA.

What will the Workshop be about?

The workshop will focus on algorithmic innovation, deep learning architectures, multimodal learning frameworks, and scalable AI solutions that can support personalised patient care. By bringing together experts in medical imaging, biomedical signals, clinical data, and computational intelligence, the workshop aims to accelerate the development of robust and clinically meaningful AI applications.

Topics of Interest

Research topics included in the workshop, but not limited to:

  • Deep learning for lung cancer signal and image analysis

  • AI for medical imaging, including CT, PET, MRI, and digital pathology

  • Multi-omics learning using genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics

  • Machine learning on clinical and real-world healthcare data

  • AI for physiological signals and longitudinal patient monitoring

  • Multimodal learning combining imaging, signals, and clinical information

  • Weakly supervised, semi-supervised, and self-supervised learning

  • Representation learning for medical data

  • Domain adaptation and generalisation in medical AI

  • Learning from limited, imbalanced, or partially labelled datasets

  • Robustness, uncertainty estimation, and model calibration

  • Continual learning and efficient AI training strategies

  • Generative AI for synthetic medical data generation and data augmentation

Important Dates

Researchers interested in contributing should note the following deadlines:

  • September 27, 2026 – Full paper submission deadline

  • October 18, 2026 – Notification of acceptance

  • November 8, 2026 – Camera-ready papers due
